Gorham’s Pond

Overlooking Gorham’s Pond in Darien, Connecticut, a stunning pool and interior spa are the highlights of this romantic landscape. Having worked with the homeowners on additions and renovations to their property for over a decade, Principals Elizabeth Hendrickson and Joseph Werner were thrilled to continue their collaboration on this Mediterranean inspired landscape. Stucco walls and sleek glass railings enclose the resort-like terraces, while a cantilevered pergola extends the length of the space to create a ceiling for a generous outdoor dining room and kitchen. Lush plantings, touches of gravel, richly-textured granite and brick, and luxurious hand-selected fabrics lend character and comfort. A fire pit rests just outside the doors of a new addition to the home, with louvered doors and windows that allow for seamless flow between the interior and exterior spaces. Aerial hedging is thoughtfully arranged to create individual garden rooms, while a collection of inviting outdoor furnishings creates the perfect environment for entertaining and relaxation alike.
